The Most Elaborate Engagement I Have Ever Witnessed!!!

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

At the end of April I had the privilege to shoot the engagement of Robert Gray, Jr. and Keisha Williams. Robert and Keisha met four years ago at a surprise birthday party for a mutual friend. Two months later Keisha received anonymous flowers with a subtle message attached. It was an additional month before Robert revealed himself as her secret admirer. Robert is a native of Atlanta and Keisha hails from LaGrange, GA.

This past February Robert contacted me to talk about his engagement plans. We met at a Starbucks in Southwest Atlanta. The meeting lasted nearly an hour because Robert was so excited to tell me all about what he had been planning for a year. The surprise engagement was to take place at the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead, Georgia. He even had a name for the the proposal "Remember the Ritz" and an email address!!

Robert had arranged for 10 rooms (on different floors) at the hotel to be reserved. The rooms were to be filled with family and friends reading scriptures, roses that had been laced with gold, and unlimited candles!

On the day of the engagement, I started shooting at 4 PM and ended at 12 AM (8 hours!). There is so much more to explain but I wouldn't do much justice. My suggestion - pop a bag of popcorn, pull out a box of tissues, and find a comfortable seat. This will be the most elaborate proposal you have ever seen.

A friend of mine emailed "Remember the Ritz" to me. It was like nothing that I had ever seen before. After I watched it, I told God to send me someone who treats me like that. I know that Roberts idea for the proposal was straight from the throne room! "Robert, you set the bench mark and I pray that other men catch on!" I speak blessings on the marriage!

Stunning. That's all I can say. Stunning. What an amazing occasion to be a part of.

I got the information on this proposal in e-mail. It looks like it was an awesome experience. Your work is great! The entire time was watching the show, all the Marketer in me kept thinking is what amazing exposure this is for the photographer.

Great Job! When I get married(or even engaged for that matter) I will be hunting you down. Hopefully your dance card wont be to full by that point!

The Gray/Williams engagment pictures were beautiful. I like your black and whites. Your pictures invoke James Van Der Zee to me but you have your own style. In the future my children will be looking in a photography book admiring and studying your work.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

What a blessing it is to see that there is true Godly love in these two peoples. May God blessed the love that they have for each others. To the photograher and event planner you are also a blessing from God for having the gift to capture true love. I never seen engagement/proposal to this magnitude. If you can share this engagement/and your creative style with the world! Please do.

“Ross, Ross, Ross’...This is a fine work of Art. "Golden, so to speak." What a shadow of things to come from the All Mighty God and a glimpse of his glory to a magnitude that we humans can comprehend. Through your pictures an amazing attempt has been shared with us to try to, I repeat, try to comprehend what God had started in the Garden of Eden. It was the first Man that made a profound statement about Woman. In Gen 2:23 And Adam said, This [is] now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. It is through your beautiful eyes Ross, that we may reflect and receive hope and KNOW that ALL, not some but ALL things are possible through God, and ONLY, ONLY if we believe….DOUGHT is a NO, NO! Please dwell on that! “Praise is to God Our Omnipotent Father and Christ Jesus for blessing you with the wonderful gift of being a Photo Genius.” Selah

A colleague and I watched this at work and we cried. It was sooooo beautiful! It is such a blessing to see that there are young men (today) who can hear from God and obey. I shared it with a single friend and she too cried but also stated that it gave her the inspiration and hope to wait on God for "the one". The photography was splendid!!! The question now is "Will we have the opportunity to view it again?" We have tried to view it several times after our first viewing to no avail. This slide show should be kept on site to view for a while. It is a blessing to view. God bless Robert for his obedience and I pray God's blessings over Robert and Keisha's marriage - what a wonderful start! Ross - you did a magnificent job - and God bless your business as well!

Proverbs 18:22 states:

"Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord."

Robert has "found" his wife, who certainly appears to be a "good thing", and he definitely looks to have "obtained favor" of God.

Several hundred of us in Nashville, TN as well as many in Cincinnati, OH and Indianapolis, IN have the pleasure of watching the video for "The Most Elaborate Engagement I Have Ever Witnessed!"

I received a link for the photos while at work and I must say, I was so touched and moved by the beauty of the pictures and the love between the couple. All I could think was, "Wow, this is only the proposal!" I, too, immediately asked God to send me a man that loves me as much as this man loved his fiancee, but loved God even more. This is truly beautiful. I wish the couple a wonderful life together. And to the photographer, you are a truly talented man. I felt like I was walking right along with Robert and Keisha as they entered each of the rooms. The way that you were able to capture the emotion is amazing. You are a blessed individual. Much continued success to you.

I am soo glad I am not alone...I have always believed that true, deep into-your-cells love exists. Wowwaaa..I am super happy for the couple. With this kind of beginning...their marriage will be a golden pathway to heaven. I have a feeling their relationship will keep growing at exponential levels. I am going to watch it again. You can never have too much of a good cry. Also, what great support from the family and friends...everyone was happy for them and grateful to be a part of this moment. Honestly, they can just head to their honey moon. ps I would not want to be their wedding planner

Thank you for using your "spiritual" eye as well as your physical eye when you photograph.

To Robert & Keisha... What GOD has put together, let no man tear apart! May He continue to bless and keep you and your families... May He enlarge your territories because you have shown yourself approved! May He continue to bless and keep this union!

Mr. Knight,

I am so moved by your artistic expression, I had to watch it twice before I could comment. Even with the second time I could not hold back the tears. Please send Ms. Williams and Mr. Gray my congrats and prayers. As sacred of an event a wedding should be, I hope that we will be invited back into their Godly world and witness the continuation of true, God-fearing love. I doubt that this entire comment will be read, but I am a woman who believes in God's plan to send a man that he has create just for me. Thank you, Mr. Knight and Mr. Gray for sharing such an intimate occassion. I only pray that you will be available when my time comes. I will definitely fly you to Kansas City, MO to shoot my wedding! And if this is not on Oprah, she will read/hear my complaints.

Mr. Knight, I cannot explain the emothions I have experienced with the capture of Robert/Keisha Engagement. This was so amazing. I had to wait till I got home to see the whole thing. Myself and the rest of my co-workers have talked about this and we were just in AWWWW over this. A great thing has come out of me passing it along after someone else passed it to me, and that is someone has said they (without a doubt) will be rendering your services for their 25th engagement. So a new client is aboard. I want to say you are so blessed to be able to do what you do and keep on capturing the beauty of love and show everyone that dreams are able to come true in someone being able to profess their love. GOD BLESS YOU, and last but not least, I cannot see how Robert will be able to top this for the wedding. This was much. Will see what the future holds. First, what an awesome job you did on the pictures. There were no words other than the perfect music that was playing behind the slide show of the pictures and yet it seemed as if a thousand words were said. It was like watching a movie.

Second, in case the engaged couple reads this I want to say congratulations. It appears that you two are very favored in the Lord. I am sure Keisha felt like a princess on that day and can't wait to become Robert's queen. It is trult wonderful to see a man go through such measures to show a woman his love. Keisha you must be doing something right too. You go virtuous woman! I pray that God keeps his hand on your marriage. Enjoy your wedding.

Finally, to the single ladies out there. This was truly awesome.
Don't miss your blessing by looking for a copycat. I been hearing and reading so many comments that are looking for identical. What God has for you is for you and it may not come in the same package. Be blessed!

Dear Mr. Ross,

Keisha's younger brother is a friend of mine and had told me of this day. I could not have imagined what occured until my mom received this email in Baltimore of all places while I live here in Atlanta. Such a small world. You have done in a moment in time what so many cannot do in a lifetime. As so many others did, I cried. I have met Keisha and she is a beautiful woman. I wish her and Robert all that God has in store for them in abundance! Keep making memories for the world.

This montage blessed my day. Best wishes to the Robert and Keisha - I could feel their love for each other, for their families and friends, and most importantly, for the Lord, in their pictures. Robert truly took the teffort to make his woman feel like a queen; not in the money that he spent (though this proposal was obviously pricey) but in the THOUGHTS behind every room. My favorite pictures were the ones captured in each room, of the circles in prayer around the couple. Wonderful!

I wish Robert and Keisha the best in life and may God continue to be a force in their lives. I pray that God may send that perfect man for me that I am meant for.

There are no words to express how I felt while viewing this proposal!! The proposal and photography were truly amazing. I wish Robert and Keisha all the happiness in the world. May God forever Bless them both!!

Good job.

To Robert And Keisha, the love that was displayed in this proposal is truly an image of the agape love that God has for us shining through the two of you. May God continue to bless the two of you more than you could ever imagine. This is proof to me that real men and real love truly do exsist. Keisha you have found your soulmate, I only wait for mine to arrive and I pray that he is a least half the blessing of a man you have because he has set a standard that is just.... I can't even explain. Robert keep being the blessing God has made you. To the producer of this elaborate engagment, this is beauty, love, and talent captured at its best. I have never witnessed such a spectacular sight in my life. You made us all feel as if we were sharing the moments with them. Continue to work the gift that God has given you. Kudos to you all!! Be blessed!!

Mr. Knight,
Please know when I received this (month ago) and still watching..LOL, that I was truly blessed by this slideshow. I am an up and coming wedding planner that just relocated to Atlanta...all I can say is May God be the have his hand all over you and your business as well as the couples union. I will be booking you for myself when my time comes. I also looked forward to recommending you to my clients. If they they haven't already booked you. I have sent this to EVERYONE I know. Many blessing!!!!

Mr. Knight,

This was awesome. A friend emailed this to me weeks ago and I now I just sent it to my address book. Love, true love and love inspired by God ----WOW. I am getting ready to look at it again with my daughters.

Thanks for sending this out and thanks for all the people that keep forwarding the emails. Because sometimes we forget with age, time and life situations that true love and GOD centered love still exist. :)

The scripture that came to mind as I viewed this was:

...Eye hath not seen, nor ear heared, neither have entered into the heart of man,the things which GOD hath prepared for them that love him.
I Corinthians 2:9

This was so emotional. You captured the atmosphere perfectly in your photos.

I pray that God would send me someone that loved me that much. I pray that God continues to bless them and bless their marriage.

Ross,

God has certainly blessed you with very special gift.
And you are using it wisely. everyone i showed this production to said they dropped a tear or two. one lady mentioned that it was the best email she has every recieved in her whole life. You and Robert have certainly raised the bar for us all. with the internet portraying us with bad prom attire and bad grills, this was very powerful and uplifting. thank you for sharing.....

CONGRATS to the couple! The proposal was BREATHTAKING, but you already know that!

To the photographer: you will be photographing my wedding, period, point blank! That is if you're available! =)

To anyone who knows the answer to the following question: What is the name of the song and artist played in Robert and Keisha's slideshow?!!?

This is just Gods example of Marriage. Inever seen such a beautiful proposal in my life. It just took me back when I got Married and if you put God in it just believe that it has got to work. God Bless the couple and I pray that God continues to be in the midst of everything.

Truly an amazement example of the power of line. Mr. Gray, you are an example for all men and women to follow. The photography is wonderful...but, it is secondary. It is truly about the gift of love that God has bestowed on these two through their remarkable engagement. This slideshow is representative of what we all should strive toward...in our love for our family and friends. Mr. Gray is my hero. Keep treating Keisha like the Queen you showed her to be.

Does anyone know when the wedding date is?

This deserves to be featured on OPRAH for the whole world to see!!!

Absolutely beautiful and anointed proposal...my fave part is the prayer in each room. your work is gorgeous as well. I wish them the absolute best. May God continue to show them favor with man, and much prosperity in the union. God Bless!

Mr. Knight, your God-given talent has truly reigned supreme in this moment and in all that you have done and will do.
To Robert and Keisha, may God's blessings continue be a light unto your pathway as you allow Him to lead and guide you. I know that you have received a lot of comments about how to top this engagement. It is not about topping anything. Robert, God gave you this vision and together with the help of those trained to listen to God's hear as well, your union will be just as beautiful as your engagement. Again God bless you and we all rejoice with you in your celebration of life together!

Sincerely,

This was simply amazing, i have watched it over and over again. The pictures were wonderful and the music chosen to accompany the slideshow was aboslute genius. I would have never thought a proposal could be so grand and elaborate. I have fallen in love with the song and fall asleep to it every night. Watching the slide show was truely a blessing to me. It just goes to show that if you follow God's plan what kind of blessings you will receive. I pray many blessings for Keisha and Robert as well as Ross. Job well done. Ross, your proposal was great also, i loved the fact that you washed her feet a sign of humility. Can't wait for both of the weddings.

I saw the slide show yesterday... everything was just amazing! The way that you capture every moment was just...emotional. It's like the I was there in the mist of things. I love your work and I read in a more recent blog that you were going to do less weddings. I don't know if the public will let you... Pray that you have the variety of assignments that are needed to keep you happy.

I just watched the entire slide show of Remember the Ritz. I am sitting here crying!

This is the most amazing engagement story ever. The way you captured EACH and every moment. 8 hours of taking photos?

You are a true story teller through your photos. I am in awe of this young mans love for his family, friends and most of all his beautiful bride.

They make the most admirable couple. When I saw the prayer circle around his bride, I got goosebumps.

Thank you for publishing this engagement story. I will NEVER forget the Ritz either. It's like I was there celebrating with everyone!

Great work!!!!!!!!!!

The first time I saw this engagement was a couple of months ago and today I went to the link to watch it again and to no surprise I indeed had the same emotions all over again as if it was the very first time I had seen this. I truly LOVED this blessed event, one that GOD has established for such a time as this. GOD chose ROBERT and KEISHA, A couple HE brought together for the world to see how AWESOME GOD truly is. May God continue to bless you ROSS, you were a vessel as well, GOD chose you because he knew what you had inside of you and only you could have captured this the way GOD needed this to be displayed. GOD wanted this to reach the world and that it has. God is showing us HIS beautiful and passionate and LOVE through the 3 of you.

Thanks so much ROSS for the experience!

The presentation of your engagement was sent to me by 2 different people. Each time I watched it, I was amazed. You could just feel the love that is shared between Robert & Keisha. I pray that as you move forward that God will bless your union. May the love that is shared between you both continue to grow stronger. I pray for your happiness in the weeks, months and years to come. God bless !

Ross
I found this through an email that was sent to me. You are truly blessed! I wish you had been able to capture my truly amazing proposal also. Who knew? I am officially a fan of your photography! God is doing an awesome work through your vision. (the ability to see what is not there) I look forward to seeing more of your vision.

This was heavenly. I can't wait for the wedding. Robert's ideas were divine and Ross' eye was of the Holy Spirit. Exceptional!!!!

I see lots of people(women) praying/wishing that God will send them someone that loves them just as much. Please, finance, does not equate to love. God may send you someone that even loves you more, but he may not be as rich, and your engagement may not be as posh, will that matter? Don't misplace/misunderstand things for what they are. A bad camera man will have made such a beautiful engagement look ugly, but Ross is a talented photographer and did a great job. I pray that just as the engagement looked beautiful, that the marriage turns out to be just as much, and most importantly lasts!

My girlfriend sent me this slideshow in an email about a year ago. Whenever I'm feeling hopelessly single I watch it. It never fails to move me to tears but it also lifts me up. Your art, Mr. Knight, captured the purest of love, God's love, between those two lovely people and their families. I feel encouraged by those photos and excited by the possibilities...

I am just able to view this proposal. It was beautiful, words can't explain how much he cherishes this woman and how he went above and beyond to make this day special for the both of them. I emailed the slide show to all my firends and family because, it was the most tearful & beautiful thing i have ever seen. There is no man out there that can top this proposal. I even emailed it to my boyfriend to see.

When I get married I would be so happy if you were my photographer. Until that day may God continue to bless you, along with Keish and Robert.

I just saw this yesterday. October 28, 2008. I thought it was a joke. But I check to see if the couple was real. I know that God gave this to you. Keep letting God speak to your heart and mind. I know that the wedding is going to be awesome. I hope that you and soon to be wife will keep God the focus of you lives. May the favor of God continue to be on you lives.

Have they gotten married yet??

I know that I am a few years late, but this was sooo awesome. Isn't God more than good. My friend texted me and told me that I needed to see this, then I sent it to everyone in my address book. How AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How was the wedding?

Here I am two years later viewing this for maybe the 50th time and still I cry. Way to go Mr. Knight. You captured emotions that will last a lifetime!

I loved how Robert created a sacred event for the engagement. in a world where porn and drugs and loss of common courtesy are the norm it was so cleansing to see someone create something so good in the midst of so much that is vile.

Absolutely amazing!

I realize that I am over two years late with this...Everett had to show me what inspired him to seek you out Ross....Ross, as expected, your work is EXCELLENT! However, I am most moved by the energy/spirit of this couple. This couple certainly seems to have the foundation for a BEAUTIFUL union! Robert gave Keisha the most wonderful gift that one person can give to another...he petitioned God on her behalf! Bravo!

Anonymous said...

Did they ever get married?

Unknown said...

I would also like to know if they got married. I watch this slide show over and over and over again. I am truly in LOVE with the photography. Without a person telling me a thing I can figure out what is going on.
Can someone tell me if they tied the knot?

Anonymous said...

I have watched this slide show over and over again over the course of 3 years, and it is still one of the most beautiful and most honorable things I have ever seen. I don't know any women who could have dreamed of something as remarkable as that day. I wish the couple many blessings and mega favor. Because God was the center of the two of them, I know they have a marriage that is greater then they could have ever dreamed of having.

Anonymous said...

I first saw this slideshow shortly after the couple got engaged. Now, 3 years later it is STILL the most remarkable and beautiful engagement that I have ever seen. As I sit here and wipe the tears from my eyes and reminisce on my own engagement and wedding events, I pray that this couple continue to demonstrate what was a running theme throughout their engagement event: PRAYER and it's continued importance throughout a marriage.

Mr. Wright, Thanks for being a "fly on the wall" and sharing with the world the love between this man and this woman. Beautiful!
