My mission was to get the kids to open up. On the wedding day this is how things started.

I arrived at the wedding early to start shooting the bride. That's when I saw the kids again. With the help of their dad I was able to get them outside alone with me. Actually, I had dad standing several feet behind me so the kids would feel safe and non-threatened. The picture above is all I got for a few minutes. After interviewing the kids a while I found the problem. They wouldn't smile because they were missing teeth!!!! Boy do I remember those days. Well maybe not but I at least have some embarrassing pictures to remind me how funny I looked and I have thoughts of my older sisters teasing...no taunting me.
Anyways I started thinking of how to take a great shot of the kids and save them the embarrassment of my youth. Presto! I started grunting and making noises like a few well-known animals from the wild. What do you know, I got some smiles and missing teeth from the kids immediately. But remember, I secretly promised myself - no missing teeth pics! I asked the kids to look at each other while I continued to sound like a noise box from the zoo. Remember the little button you would push when you'd walk up to the cage next to the animals to hear the narrative....riiight.
We ended up having a great time with me entertaining and all. The problem now is, I love all of the shots! These kids are too cute.
Help me out. Vote for your favorite picture and tell me why. The first person to vote will get???? A blessing from above! How about every person that votes gets a blessing. Trust me on this one. I'll post up the winning image on rossoscarknight.com!

LOL...Love these pics.
I adore pic# 4: Shy Girl and Guy
They are trying so hard not to smile, but also look like they having a staring contest and the first one to smile showing there no tooth loses. There giving this shy smirk to one another like yeah anything you can do I can do better look...
LOL@ the first picture
I really like pic#2 and #4. there is an intimacy and playfulness(i.e. like they are both daring each other on who is going to burst with Laughter) in both pictures that I like.
Ross, Pic 2 because when you look closely he's trying to look tough & hold it all in & she's looking at him like I know exactly what you're trying to do & you're not fooling me. You caught a playful power struggle moment; this pic has the most intrigue. You captured the 2 kids in a moment but if you look closely, you can sense their underlying feelings
I like picture #2!!!!
Kids are so great......

Picture 3. But love them all.
My vote is for picture 4 Shy guy and girl - It looks like they are sharing some some inside joke and they are just trying not to bust out laughing. It just screams child innocence.
I love Picture #4. They are adorable.
Your blog is wonderful. I enjoy every part of it. Your passion is evident in every shot.
I like pic #4 I find that there is a natural and innocence in children that is not rehearse and this is what I see in photo #4 I love this one out of all of them.
I vote shy guy and girl ... because they look like they are going to burst into laughter anytime soon!
I love pic #3, it's the one that really made me say "Awwww!". I love their facial expressions, they look like they are trying to see who can hold in the laughter the longest, and the fact that it is in black and white, makes it look so much more innocent!

Picture #3. Picture # 4 is a very lose second.
#4 is my favorite because she looks like she is saying: "I refuse to look at you or I am going to just let go!"
#4 is my favorite because she is trying so hard NOT to look at him before "giving up" a laugh
I love 4 as well. The reason is they look so playful but still very childlike. Exactly the way they should be at that age.
I like Pic 4 because they're both look darling. They're both smiling, barely holding back a laugh - giving an equal amount of energy & attention....That's my pick!
#4 is IT! They have a connection in this photo that is different from the others. It's pure, it's sweet and it is real. You may have set the pose on this one, but the emotion is candid!!
I like them all. #4 is my pick. Do you remember the game, "Let's See Who'll Laugh First"? That's what this picture reminds me of. Great job.

we think # 4 is the best of the best, but all are contest winners.
I say #3 and #4 for second place
I like picture #4. It is so cute.
Picture #3 is the cutest, they are trying to hard to hold on to their mugs, but loosing the battle.
I like them all, but I really like #3 becuase of the language in their faces.. They are so CUTE!!
#3!!! This one looks so natural. Like you just so happened to capture this moment. His gaze even looks like he's looking at her lovingly. #4 is a close second for me. Great pictures!
#3 because they are about to laugh out loud! lol. love all the pics though.
:-)
kids are cuties..3 is my pick!
Picture 4 is the cutest.
hey Ross,
I love the "both getting ready to lose it".....Its priceless they both look cute as can be with a little sly on the side. Then the coloring is also my fav. Good luck on choosing!
This is so hard. They are all great shots, and you are right...the kids are too cute! I think I like #3 the best because it seems as if he is leaning a bit as if you captured the "awwww..you got me" moment.
PS. I hope you post the answers to the dancing photo.
Maybe it's the sephia, but I really like picture 3.
Ross, I vote for #4 ...shy guy and girl. You can see that they are staring intently at each other like they are playing the staring game just waiting for the other one to start laughing first... I like it in color or the custom b&w/sepia-ish tone of #3!
Pic #4 b/c its almost intense, but it just cant be b/c they are ready to burst in laughter. Also the closeness and the angles are puuurrrrrfect, so we get enough of the eyes, which tell so much about the emotion and the partial intensity. Lovely work!
Hey Lariche - don't be a stranger. Check us out on the forum some time.

HI! Picture #3 is so cute! The way he's looking at her is priceless!
God bless you!!

#4 is my favorite!
Number 3.. he has the coy smile.. that says "you can't make me laugh"! I think the sepia is beautiful too!
I love #3 because I can see the laughter bubbling up inside of them. She's staring him down like "you better not laugh," and he's like "I'm gonna laugh!!" That's my favorite part of a laugh, when you are trying to hold it in, it becomes this secret you can no longer keep to yourself..
Ross, I like #4
Why, because the children seemed to have unfurled. you notice their hands are no longer fisted but more relaxed, they have moved closer to one another. you see the warmth and closeness between them, almost as if you are no longer there, it has just become the two of them and it is a contest now. you made them forget for a while. A very touching photo, it takes you back, makes you remember what innocence felt like.
i would have to say that I absolutely adore pic # 2. she has the look of I will be the last one to smile while is is desperately trying not to let his smile out.
they are all adorable and I can see why you had such a hard time choosing. why not just use them all.
I love Pic #4. They are about to burst into one of those deep belly giggles that are majorly contagious! Fantastic job at capturing the emotion of JOY!
LOL........Love It!!!
Pictures of Kids are priceless. I think number 4 is the classic they are shy, being sneaky, and playful at the same time. It is like kiddie puppy love.....Beautiful shots.
Picture 3 is awesome!
I like Picture 3:Both are ready to lose it
I think in this photo they are both trying to make each other laugh it so cute
I Like picture 3 :Both are ready to lose it
i like this photo because they are both trying to make each other laugh to see who is going to show their teeth first to the camera . it so cute
# 4 for sure! But 3 was a solid runner up!
I posted my selection on the wrong post.... but here it is "I am torn between picture #3 and #4. If I had to choose though, I would pick #4 (shy guy and girl). the picture captures the fact that the little girl has finally gotten through and the little boy knows it. Great Pictures all around."
PICTURE 3!!!
Hands down on this one. The girl looks like she has a lot to get off her mind and the boy looks like an old man chilling waiting for her to laugh first. Looks like, she's saying, "Mannn, I can't believe this guy actually thinks that I'm going to smile for him." The boy look like he's saying, "Ahhhh, girl please, I got this pose, check me out!"
Love them all but pic #3 says it all for me. The little girl is looking very mischieviously at her brother and her brother is looking very innocent and lovingly back at his sister. They will both look back at this picture as adults and remember the entire day as if it were yesterday.
I like Shy Guy and Girl because it seems as if the giggles are barely under control! They want to laugh outloud yet dont want their teeth to show, its a battle for these two between laughter and smile;-)
I like Picture 4: Shy guy and girl!!
Omo says...
Picture 4!!!
Love the way the boy is smiling and looking affectinately at his sister and the sister looking intensively back at him. There is the connections in thier eyes.
#4. You bring out the best in every shot.
Picture #3...with #4 as my second choice. Just adorable!
love all the pictures but i think #4 is the winner!
thanks for the great pictures! they're just so cute and adorable! i wish they could always be like this at home!!!
i love all the pictures but i think #4 takes the cake! they're both trying their best not laugh but it's almost out.
i'm so proud of them!
pic 4 most definitely. they are so adorable!
I love pic# 4....the shy girl and boy. They really look shy (yeah right)...they appear to not want to laugh at the funny sounds you're making.
Be Bless
I like #4 because the kids look like they are having the most fun in this one.
Picture #4 without a doubt. It's the best!
I like number 3 best.
picture # 3 - it's like an ad for nike...Just Do It!
fun stuff.
happy weekend!
happy homecoming!
kp
I like # 4 you captured their joy, their comfort, their friendship. It's like they have a funny secert that only they know and no one else. Great shot!!-MZ
Pic # 3 they you can see they are trying to hold their smiles in, but it still shows..they will love it when they get older and look back on it.
All Great Shots.
