experience KNIGHT #4 - The Workshop Was A Blast!

Friday, December 5, 2008

We finished the workshop today and it was a blast! You would never believe how rewarding it is to just give and watch a group of people grow right before your eyes. I'm exhausted now but every time I think about the students from the past two days engulfed in shooting and learning it brings me right back to life. I even forgot to eat this evening. Will do that soon.

To the experience KNIGHT #4 Students: Thank you for your willingness to learn and your openness to my uncanny (at times) teaching style. It is now time for you to join the forum (invite coming soon) with all of the other past experience KNIGHT attendees. I am overjoyed when I think of how you will certainly expand your photographic skills, build new relationships within our network and connect with other photographers in your respective cities. Continue to Build Community Through Photography! That is my dream and hopefully now it is part of your reality.

This day would not be complete if I did not mention something I learned just yesterday. Many times on this blog you have seen comments from a friend of mine, Hope. She's an amazing story teller, photographer, and poet. This past summer I did a photoshoot and titled the blog entry - The Silent Shadow Portrait. There was a poem posted and the author remained anonymous. I found out during this workshop that the poem was written by one of the current participants. She wishes to remain anonymous but if you have time you should really click this link then scroll through the comments to read the poem. It is beautiful.

As for the images in this post - since I always tend to feature the ladies I decided to give the guys some love. Enough for tonight. Blog you later.

Welcome everyone to the ROK family. You will soon see how the workshop will greatly improve your photographic skills. I'm still in awe everytime I witness Ross's work while building a community through photography. If you were anything like me, I couldn't stop talking about the experience for days. My poor sister was Rossed out.

Ode to Knight- Workshop #4
(Formerly titled “Step into the light to experience the “KNIGHT”)

ISO walked in with a different point of view
this language that I was hearing wasn’t in my que-
of knowledge of understanding
I had to let it sink in
be patient let it manifest from within
An eclectic gathering of minds all creative and unique
Waiting for the KNIGHT to ignite his mystique
The formula he created to understand his speak was inventive and surreal
It was the answer to make images shot be critiqued
The aperture in the atmosphere was either on high or low
The KNIGHT helped all to focus from the word go
Strength, courage, and wisdom “Building Community through Photography”
One workshop at a time
“Unlocking your gift” was the reason to the rhyme
The “F” stops here should not be the final destination
Reaching for more is what “KNIGHT” believes should be your motivation
The sky is the limit there is nothing you can’t do
Surrender yourself to let your dreams come true
Allow your heart to guide you to what you desire
Open your mind and soul to what you aspire
All you have to do is step in to the light
and then you will be able to experience the “KNIGHT”

Thank you for allowing us to share in unlocking our destinies- sometimes people see more in us than we see in ourselves- sometimes it takes others to be the mirror (Thanks for being the mirror)
God Bless You! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family.
Peace and Blessings!
