A Historic Moment...I'll be there!

Thursday, January 15, 2009

I debated going to D.C. for a while to catch just a glimpse of the Inauguration. What deterred me was thinking about all of the traffic, congestion, people, and the cold. Then I thought about what I would tell my kids one day. "Hey kids, sure your dad was a young photographer in 2009 yet I sat at home during one of the most historic days of my life." Surely, that would not suffice. So I am headed to the District after shooting a wedding this weekend. My father-in-law and I will experience history together and I'll be sure to photograph my little heart out - even without a press pass!

I took the picture above during a political rally in October 2008. I found it very befitting for this moment in time.

Hey Knight,

I have tickets to the inside action...and just got my Ashton Kutcher cool pics camera...nothing compared to what you have...LOL...however, I will snap as much as they allow me to, and send them to you...if I can..I will see about getting you a press pass...

I am so glad you might get a press pass! My good friend works for the FBI in DC and said it will be a challenge getting around with a camera. I know you will make it happen though!

Be safe, and I can't wait to see what you capture!

Hey Knight,

Good luck navigating the streets of DC during the Inauguration. I thought about heading down there seeing as how it's only 45 minutes away, but that's too many people for me. Enjoy it, and make sure you get some great shots!

Ross, enjoy the changing moment in history for me:) I would love to be there with my camera, but since I can't, I will continue to live through your lense:)

Be safe and God Bless

Hey Ross,

Chris, my brother, and I will be out there to see history unfold..At least we hope to partake in the masses that are coming out. Give us a call if you can maybe we can all link up in the madness! Great to have you back in the States, and back to visit DC. Hope you get your shoot on out here. Can't wait to see the shots!

Glad you made it back safely!

Maybe I will run into you...I don't think I will make it down to the actual Inauguration because transportation will be hard, but I decided to drive around the city and see what people are doing in lieu of attending the Inauguration.

I will be going to an inauguration party on capital hill at a friends house (12p-6p), so if you like to come to get out of the cold and some good food just let me know.

I was armed (with my camera) and ready to go until my host in Va. changed their vacation plans. They'll be out of town during the Inauguration. It's unfortunate, but I have to pass. Have a safe trip my friend. As always, looking forward to seeing your work.

Ross, I feel you and I feel the same way although logistically, I'm VERY tied down to NYC at the present, but maybe spontaneity and opportunity will prevail and I'll be down there with my new Canon as well.

Wherever you end up, enjoy yourself and be safe.
