KNIGHT + The Triple Pink Foundation - Join Us September 30, 2009 at Straits Atlanta

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

My wife, Brandi, is a breast cancer researcher at Emory University. You may remember the 3-Day Walk she did for breast cancer awareness back in 2007. This year, Ross Oscar Knight Photography is proud to support Breast Cancer Research as the official photographers for the We Want a Cure Wii Game Tournament. Brandi will be there working as the Event Site Coordinator.

Here is a message from Brandi:

June 2009 marked the 20th anniversary of my mother’s death due to breast cancer. As many people know, I am a HUGE advocate for breast cancer education and awareness. This year, I am a part of something really exciting!!

About a year ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Karen Neely, the founder of Triple Pink Foundation. Triple Pink was created to increase awareness about triple negative breast cancers, one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer. This type of breast cancer primarily affects young women under the age of 40. However, African-American women appear to be disproportionately affected. As a survivor, Karen started Triple Pink to celebrate the legacy of survival as well as to encourage young women to become more responsible for their own health.

To kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, I am working with the Triple Pink Foundation for their "We Want a Cure - Wii Game Tournament Fundraiser" (www.wewantacure.org) on September 30, 2009. The event will be held at Straits Restaurant in Midtown Atlanta. Supporters can come out for music, food and of course, to get their game on with the Wii!! There is also a silent auction and a raffle for two round-trip AirTran airline tickets to anywhere in the continental US.

I’m really excited about this event! I know it’s going to be a success, but most of all, I just want people to be more aware of this disease. We will win this battle….

Ross, your wife is beautiful inside and out. What a wonderful expression of love for her mother, to devote her career and personal life to fight the thing that took her from this life. You are a great support. My prayers will be with you all at tomorrow's event. Much success!

Hey Ross and Brandi...How awesome that you're 'building community through photography' by bringing awareness to the Triple Negative breast cancer. Can you (or probably Brandi) post more information about this type of cancer?

Hi Brandi

I will be praying for the success of this event , and I also pray that people come out and learn more about it . Only recently I had learnt that a friend of mine his mom lost one of her breast to cancer and when i sat down and talk to her about her experience ,apart of me can understand how she felt but she doesn't let keep her down . She keeps encouraging us young women to take care of ourselves . I am glad for people like you and her and triple pink who are there to educate me as a young woman about breast cancer . Thank you Brandi, Thanks Ross for supporting it and Thanks triple pink . Will have this even in my prays
