Trunk Bay St. John USVI Engagement Session by Ross Oscar Knight | James + Aisha

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

I was down in St. John this month to shoot James and Aisha's fusion (Pakistani/Puerto Rican/Scottish) wedding. I love fusion weddings! I worked with the always fabulous Mary Bartolucci of Island Style Weddings. We last teamed up for Mitch and Keesha' s nuptials in 2008 just after I got married myself.

Since the wedding was on Sunday at Caneel, I flew down 2 days early to scout the beaches and to shoot the couple's engagement session. Aisha and I have a special relationship as we pondered outfit selections together for a few weeks. Its not always a bad idea to run your color choice and style by your photographer. I'll have to say myself that the colors in the photos really pop! I hope you will enjoy the little video I put together as this is the second that I have produced. We started the session with a fashion/commercial edge and then switched to candids in the water and at the Sugar Mill ruins. There are no words but you will get a sense of the lighting and mood during the shoot. The water was that beautiful and the weather was perfect - hence the song. At the end of the video I was caught off guard as the couple ran away from me and I had to catch up. I almost ran them over looking back at Cliff!

I'll have the wedding post up soon.

Yeah, thanks for the video/behind the scenes look at how you get the couples to just "be" during your shoots.

You were the best stylist, fashion consultant a bride could hope for. And you knew all the best websites too! For any potential brides out there - Ross was super patient as I paraded options by him, wanting to pick the perfect color and dress for each event. We couldn't have been happier working with Ross, and even all our guests commented on how great both he and cliff were at our wedding. Can't wait to see the rest :)

Fuschia is my favorite color, so this was a visual feast for me.
