KNIGHT goes to Africa!

Monday, July 16, 2007

Over the next two to three years I will be working on a book that centers around weddings and different traditions throughout the world. I won't release the name of the book as of now, although it has already been "given" to me.

I ask that you pray for my efforts and continued faith. This book and my travels will be no small feat. The plan is all coming together...the finances will hopefully follow.

In 2008 and 2009, I want to take at least two trips to Africa to document weddings throughout the continent. Thanks to my readers and some clients, I have received great insight into where I will travel. Currently, I am working on weddings in Kenya and Nigeria for next year! I also have my eyes set on Cape Town (thanks Nicole!).

Stay tuned for updates and how you can possibly help!!! For now, just mention "KNIGHT goes to Africa" in your prayers!

I've been to Gambian and Nigerian weddings right here in Atlanta that keep it very traditional so I will email you next time I get an invitation. Very spectacular... you'll almost feel like you're not in the US.

Congratulations on all your good work!

Dear 'Knight in Africa'

I am sure that when you come to Africa, you will be overwhelmed with requests! Your work is awesome and the setting here is absolutely stunning. I'm a Capetonian, so I'm completely biased and make no excuses for it. Cape Town has the best views with a Mountain range, a peninsula with pristine white beaches and spectacular wineroutes all within a couple of miles from each other.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Ross.

was encouraged to read about your book on weddings. your choice of Nigeria is also a great one because of the diverse cultures and their manners of celebrating weddings. I am from the youruba-speaking part of nigeria but I have travelled wide in the country. the experience also gave me an opportunity to attend different wedding ceremonies.
i am sure you will have a lot to write by the time you are done. will surely remember you in prayers- as requested. if the Lord has put the vision in your heart then, praying for its success will be the least i could contribute to the accomplishment of that dream.
i pray God's grace for you. may He grant you all that you need to make a success of the project. i dont have a web space yet but should you need some questions answered, i'ld be glad to assist. my contact is childofauthority@yahoo.com. God bless you!

I will say a prayer for you. I am from kenya but live here in atlanta. I am sure you will love it there. If you need any information about Kenya I can give it to you. I have a 29 year brother who recently went back to live there after being in Canada for several years, perhaps he could be of some assistance while you are there. My email is joyce_677@yahoo.com
Your work is outstanding.

When you go to Africa make sure you go to a Swahili wedding (from Southern Somalia to northern Mozambique including the Comoros Islands along the coast). They are fascinating. If you could go to a Saudi wedding they are quite unique also. Sudanese and Eritrean weddings last several days. Moroccan weddings are different also.

Hello Ross, I am a Nigerian who lives in the A. I concur with the posts above that you will have a blast in Africa, especially in Nigeria. Make sure you attend a wedding in Edo State; they're breathtaking!

But besides your photography, I have to say how inspired and encouraged I am by your walk with God. You really do take Him seriously and I thank God for that. May God bless you in all you do and I hope to work with you someday.

I wish you the best of luck as you go to Africa. You will be amazed by the beauty in Nigeria, weddings in Nigeria are just grande, people go all out and it is amazing to see how everything comes together. Nigerian fashion is on another level. There are usually two weddings, the traditional wedding and then the white wedding, both weddings are usually elaborate.
Nigerian weddings in Atlanta are already a spectacle to behold, from reception venues at the Fox Theatre to the Four Seasons and the Ritz! You will be amazed!
By the way, I am Nigerian if I have not made that obvious enough.
May your journey to Africa be fulfilling and I pray for your safety through out your journey there and safe return back.
